Football Freestyle
Part of our 'active playtimes' initiative
After some feedback from children in our recent review from our school governors, we are developing a range of optional activities at playtimes; these include a number of engaging resources such as den-building materials and bags of imaginative play equipment.
We now have a trained active play facilitator at lunchtimes, Mrs Sambrook, who is supporting initiatives and enabling play. On a Thursday lunchtime we have our new sports coach, Mrs Stafford, who sets up some sporting activities.
Finally, one of our Year 5s, Arlo Lynes-Gammon has set up a football skills club for children in years 2 and 3. It was a pleasure to watch their first session and see how children left to their own devices can be so articulate and encouraging of each other. I think this is a real benefit of our mixed-age set up - we are all inspired and inspiring in equal measure.
