Writing to Learn
Staff have been developing their practice following new research about writing as a method of formulating thinking in addition to the expression of thinking.
ERA staff have been working with well-known educationalist and curriculum design expert, Chris Quigley, to think about ways we can further enhance our curriculum, using cognitive science developments to help children move their learning more easily into long-term memory.
We have been making small changes to the way we plan in order to create more opportunities for formative writing in subjects such as Geography and Science. Children are responding to the changes really well - watch this space for some excellent writing!
